Stock Market Gyan

Review of the Indian markets as on 14th July, 2009.

My advice for the traders would be to stay away from the stock market for some time because it is really not the time to invest or trade in this kind of a volatile market. If we see the values of the SENSEX and the NIFTY for the last three months we see the bull run for the two started from 10965 and 2850 points respectively.

Seeing the BSE and NSE charts we find that the actual value of the NIFTY and SENSEX should be in and around 2800 and 11200 respectively. My advice is keeping your money in your hands, maintaining liquidity and investing only when the market reaches these price points. Also, watch out for the price of crude as it is at a crucial mark of $60 a barrel. If the price at the market reaches to $40- $45 a barrel this would cause an overall decrease in the price levels and would make the SENSEX and the NIFTY come to the levels mentioned earlier. Also the prices of commodities are at a high value due to a weak monsoon If the condition worsens the FMCG stocks may also get affected in a negative way

Some of the good issues which as slated to be out in the near future are:
NHPC OIL, ADANI POWER, JINDAL ENERGY & etc. There is a good probability of them yielding a twofold return on investment

From a risky trading point of view, scripts such as RCOM, ADLABS ARIVA T&D, ABB, CRAIN may give you a 10 to 20 % return in short time but trade in these stocks only if you can hold them

In the present scenario, taking into consideration the stock charts, some of the stocks which you can hold for while and make money for long term are given below:

IDFC, IDBI, NEYVILE LIGNITE, MARICO GMDC,ASSAM COMPANY

MBA STUDENTS OF CEPT UNIVERSITY BAG MULTIPLE SUMMER INTERNSHIP OFFERS

Despite the specter of global recession, the pioneering batch of CEPT University’s MBA programme of Technology Management has successfully completed its summer internship process with the full batch being offered multiple offers. Essar Power, Torrent Pharma, Gujarat Gas, L&T, HDFC Bank, ISRO, GNFC, Savvy Infrastructure, Arvind Mills, Sintex , Bombardier, IIM - Ahmedabad and Adani Power are some of the organizations which have offered projects to these budding “technology-managers”.
The projects profiles being offered to students include the management of technology in the areas of supply chain management, operations management, organic solid waste management, project planning and control, contractor relationship management, performance management system as well as commercialization and exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights. The students are glad that in spite of the slowdown each of them has atleast two offers on hand on projects focused on his/her area of interest.

With an anxious set of students in a new management program which is different from a traditional MBA, it was not easy to complete the internship process. However the task was achieved with having focused interactions with industry heads from various sectors throughout the year so that sector-wise manpower needs are understood in detail. The focus of these interactions was to understand the manpower requirement of our industry and thereby identify the gaps in the manpower requirements. Mr. Sunil Parikh, Corporate Advisor at Zydus Cadila facilitated the whole process. The industry is in need of manpower in the field of technology management and thus has responded well to the program.

Another initiative which facilitated industry interaction was conducting of a “Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” in which people from various sectors of Indian industry engaged in IP creation, commercialization and exploitation shared their knowledge and expertise with the students of CEPT’s MTM programme.

The students are now looking forward to their internship after having undergone rigorous coursework over two semesters built on a foundation of core courses in business and management integrated with classes in technology and specially designed courses in technology management.

CEPT University is also looking forward to welcoming the second batch of the MTM programme for which the admission process has just begun.

Mexico City Tries to Clean Up Its Act With Urban Vegetation

Written by Jack Moins
Sunday, 01 March 2009

Greater Mexico City is the third largest metropolitan area in the world and the largest in the Western Hemisphere with a population of over 22 million people. The city is home to much of Mexico's economy, industry and culture.

However, it is also horribly polluted, contributing 1.5 percent of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. The city is so polluted, in fact, that 4,000 people die every year as a direct result of the toxic chemicals that float in the air over much of the city. The Mexico City Human Rights Commission declared that the state of the city was a "violation of the right to a healthy environment."

The good news is that the city's leadership appears to be finally making a push to clean up their act. A new project has been launched called Sustainable Housing Units, which seeks to create a vegetative urban environment to help clean up the city's air.

Dolomite Occurrences In Chhotaudepur: A Cost-Benefit Analysis For The Local Economy- Being Conducted by FAM

The project may be defined as a detailed study of dolomite mineral (reserves, grade, existing market, mining practices, scope etc.), as it occurs in Chhotaudepur (District Vadodara, Gujarat), and the local economy (family assets, average incomes, literacy, employment, estimates of dolomite reserves of their land holdings etc.) for the development of a comprehensive socio-economic model which would ensure direct benefit to the local population.

An important requirement from the project is the compilation and cataloging of Geological, Industrial and Social data mined from Chhotaudepur for the purpose of creating a database for future studies.

The project is being executed by the coordinated efforts of Faculty of Applied Management and The Department of Construction Projects Management, CEPT Ahmedabad and is bound by the terms and conditions laid by Gujarat Mineral Research Development Society (GMRDS).
