MBA STUDENTS OF CEPT UNIVERSITY BAG MULTIPLE SUMMER INTERNSHIP OFFERS

Despite the specter of global recession, the pioneering batch of CEPT University’s MBA programme of Technology Management has successfully completed its summer internship process with the full batch being offered multiple offers. Essar Power, Torrent Pharma, Gujarat Gas, L&T, HDFC Bank, ISRO, GNFC, Savvy Infrastructure, Arvind Mills, Sintex , Bombardier, IIM - Ahmedabad and Adani Power are some of the organizations which have offered projects to these budding “technology-managers”.
The projects profiles being offered to students include the management of technology in the areas of supply chain management, operations management, organic solid waste management, project planning and control, contractor relationship management, performance management system as well as commercialization and exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights. The students are glad that in spite of the slowdown each of them has atleast two offers on hand on projects focused on his/her area of interest.

With an anxious set of students in a new management program which is different from a traditional MBA, it was not easy to complete the internship process. However the task was achieved with having focused interactions with industry heads from various sectors throughout the year so that sector-wise manpower needs are understood in detail. The focus of these interactions was to understand the manpower requirement of our industry and thereby identify the gaps in the manpower requirements. Mr. Sunil Parikh, Corporate Advisor at Zydus Cadila facilitated the whole process. The industry is in need of manpower in the field of technology management and thus has responded well to the program.

Another initiative which facilitated industry interaction was conducting of a “Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” in which people from various sectors of Indian industry engaged in IP creation, commercialization and exploitation shared their knowledge and expertise with the students of CEPT’s MTM programme.

The students are now looking forward to their internship after having undergone rigorous coursework over two semesters built on a foundation of core courses in business and management integrated with classes in technology and specially designed courses in technology management.

CEPT University is also looking forward to welcoming the second batch of the MTM programme for which the admission process has just begun.
